A Big Step for Trails!

Last week, Maine trail advocates joined Governor Janet Mills for her signing of LD 1370, "An Act to Establish Trail until Rail Corridors." Through this important legislation, MaineDOT will develop and adopt an Active Transportation Plan for the state -- and evaluate the potential for using unused rail corridors as trails on an interim basis as part of that plan!

Thank you to Rep. Art Bell for sponsoring this bill, and to trail enthusiasts around the state who spoke up in support of it. We have lots to celebrate -- and lots more work to do.
