Action Alert: Support the Merrymeeting Trail on June 22nd

Our friends at the Merrymeeting Trail need your support! This is your opportunity to tell the State of Maine how much you want the Merrymeeting Trail!

MaineDOT's public forum on the Merrymeeting Trail has been scheduled for Thursday, June 22nd at 6pm. Of all the steps in this long Rail Corridor Use Advisory Council process, this is the most important one so far in terms of demonstrating the deep community support that exists for this project.

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend and make a brief comment. Public comments will be limited to two minutes.

The MaineDOT heavily values local support when deciding whether to pursue projects like this, so a strong and supportive turnout is essential to demonstrating the deep and longstanding support our community has for the Merrymeeting Trail.

PUBLIC FORUM
Lower Road Rail Corridor Use Advisory Council

Thursday, June 22, 2023
Starts at 6:00pm
Conducted via Zoom

When considering your brief remarks, here are some questions to consider:

  • How would you and your family utilize the Merrymeeting Trail?

  • What benefits do you believe the Merrymeeting Trail would bring to your community?

  • Now that we know rail service is not viable on this line for the foreseeable future, why is it important to you to see this public asset used as a trail that will benefit this region?

  • MaineDOT's website for the Lower Road Rail Corridor Use Advisory Council includes lots of useful data and resources that can help inform your comments, too.

Thank you in advance for speaking up for the Merrymeeting Trail! We're getting closer!

    Happy trails,
The Merrymeeting Trailblazers and the Maine Trails Coalition

PS: If you cannot attend on June 22nd, please submit your comments in support of the Merrymeeting Trail via this online form.
