Love Maine Trails Month


Love Maine Trails Month (LMTM) returned for its fourth annual celebration from June 1st to June 30th, 2025. This statewide event brought together trail lovers, organizations, and communities to give back to the trails that make Maine so special. Stay tuned in 2026 for information about the next LMTM!

Why Join?
 LMTM is more than just a volunteer effort—it’s a movement! When we show up for trails, we show we value them. Maine’s trails need dedicated hands and hearts to stay accessible, safe, and beautiful. Whether you’re a seasoned trail worker or a first-time volunteer, your time and energy make a difference.

If you are planning to get out on the trails this year, make a plan to add in a day or two of service. If everyone was able to volunteer even one day, imagine the difference we could make!

Love Maine Trails Month is an excellent opportunity to meet and get involved with a trail maintaining group! No prior trail work experience is needed for most LMTM events, just a willingness to learn, have fun, and give back to Maine’s trails!

  • 15,840’+ feet of new trail built during LMTM (~3 miles)

  • 1,520+: Total # of LMTM volunteer hours reported

    • $48,336 = Value of this volunteer labor using the Volunteer Rate Independent Sector 2023 value of of $31.80/hour

  • 755: Total number of paid hours for paid staff, interns or contractor

  • 269: Total # of volunteers for LMTM work day(s) (listed and unlisted events)

  • 84: New volunteers that showed up for LMTM aligned projects

  • 81: Total LMTM events - of these 51 events were officially listed on the Maine Trail Finder Calendar (4 events canceled due to rain or flooding)
